Cal South and the LA84 Foundation are proud to announce a new Grant Program that will benefit 100 current and upcoming female soccer coaches throughout the Southern California region. Cal South will host a three-day event, December 8-10, in Orange County to educate coaches interested in participating.
The event, “Celebrate and Grow Women in Coaching!” will host coaching workshops on Friday and Saturday and will end with a US Soccer National “E” License Course. The following special guests are scheduled to appear: Seattle Reign Head Coach Laura Harvey from the NWSL, Technical Director for Nebraska Maren McCrary, US Soccer WNT Strength & Fitness Coach Dawn Scott and Carrie Taylor, Cal South Staff Coach.
With the support of the LA84 Foundation, this Grant Program will aid Cal South in promoting and assisting female coaches in advancing their knowledge and credentials in the game of soccer and will relieve them of the financial burden associated with coaching clinics.
U.S Women’s National Team Head Coach Jill Ellis praised the grant, expressing needed urgency to help women increase their participation in the game. “It is very important for young female athletes to have positive and relatable role models,” Ellis said. “I believe supporting and encouraging females to either enter, or remain in the coaching ranks is essential on many levels.
“These grants offer a chance for coaches to pursue their personal growth and then be able to give back to their players. I applaud LA84 Foundation and Cal South for their continued vision and leadership in advancing the opportunities for female coaches,” she added.
